Ivan Pougni, born Ivan Albertovich Puni, was a Russian avant-garde painter associated with Cubo-Futurism and Suprematism who later worked in France under the name Jean Pougny. He exhibited alongside Kazimir Malevich in the landmark 1915 Suprematist shows in Petrograd before emigrating westward in the early 1920s. In France his style shifted toward a lyrical, figurative Primitivism, and he became a French citizen in 1947.
