Leopold SURVAGE

Leopold Survage was a painter of Russian-Finnish origin who settled in Paris and became associated with the Cubist circle around Guillaume Apollinaire. He is noted for his early experiments in abstract, rhythmic color composition, including a project for animated abstract film conceived well before the technology existed to realize it. Survage's later work moved between figuration and abstraction across a long Paris-based career.
