Vladimir and Georgii Stenberg were Russian Constructivist artists and designers, sons of a Swedish painter and a Latvian mother, both born in Moscow and Swedish citizens until 1933. They trained together at the Stroganov School of Arts and Crafts and the Moscow Free Studios (Svomas), working first in sculpture before turning to theater, costume and graphic design. Working almost always as an inseparable duo, they are best remembered for roughly 300 strikingly geometric film posters designed for Soviet cinema, including films by Sergei Eisenstein and Dziga Vertov, as well as stage designs for Alexander Tairov's Kamerny Theatre; the partnership ended with Georgii's death in 1933.
